Warning Hints for Solar Observations

WARNING: If you look directly, without safety protection filter, (in)to the sun, you damage unnoticably (!) your retina, as the retina is not pain sensitive at all. Therefore: As long as (also only a small fraction of) the light sun surface is visible, only watch the sun with proper safety protection filters.

Do not use dark sun glasses, do not use black slide film strips, do not use carbon-blacked plates, as the eyes has to be protected sufficiently not only against visible light portions but especially against heat and ultraviolet radiation!

Best equipment are "solar eclipse glasses" or solar eclipse sheets from specialized shops. Only during totality, if the sun is completely covered by the moon, a solar eclipse may be observed without danger.
